Peer Pressure

Pinwheelabove

Just a few years ago, peer pressure was a frequent topic in my house.  Usually the point of the discussion was how to avoid it.  But there is a flip side.  Sometimes there is value in "doing what others are doing."  I know that without a little peer pressure, I would not be learning new things about social media, blogging, and have that song stuck in my head.

I've often taught kids that the people around you can easily come to define what's within you.  As we begin to build the Go Team through recruiting, one of the key elements for us to maintain is positive peer pressure.  Finding the right people is so much more important that finding people.  As new agents  join the team, we all can make a contribution to applying the right pressure.  The more ingrained our habits, the greater the force needed to change them.  Some new team mates will go through a process of un-learning before absorbing our ideas and practices.  Peer pressure is one of the great ways to assist.

I know I wouldn't be changing in positive ways without experiencing the new ways of thinking that Jim and Phil have brought through their leadership.  Alaina's blog pushes me to improve my post.  Michelle's swimming encourages me to get in my pool time.  Allison's energy always elevates my efforts.  And all that yammerin'  .... well, I guess I am finally getting into it.  Positive influence from those around me, changing me.  Let's keep the pressure on.
